ORONO — University of Maine Cooperative Extension has added two new publications to its offerings:
 
Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005 (6th ed.)
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans is published jointly every five years by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Guidelines provide authoritative advice, for people two years and older, about how good dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. The NEW sixth edition of Dietary Guidelines for Americans places stronger emphasis on reducing calorie consumption and increasing physical activity. (Supersedes Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2000.) 84 pages, 2005.
 
Finding Your Way to a Healthier You
This brochure summarizes the basic guidelines for eating a healthy diet and being physically active, as presented in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005. Also known as the Dietary Guidelines Brochure. (Supersedes Using the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.) 12 pages, 2005.
