Learn how to apply social justice in clinical settings in School of Social Work webinar
The University of Maine School of Social Work will host a webinar about how behavioral health providers can incorporate social justice in clinical settings from 9–10 a.m. on Nov. 12.
The session will introduce attendees to the liberation health framework, a social justice-focused method of practice that integrates analysis of cultural, social and political forces with traditional clinical methods. It can help behavioral health professionals explore and discuss the effects of systemic racism and social-political problems experienced by their clients.
Dawn Belkin Martinez, a clinical associate professor at the Boston University School of Social Work, will present the webinar.
The School of Social Work is offering the talk in partnership with the UMaine Rural Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care (RIBHPC) Project as a fall 2021 Field Instructor Appreciation continuing education online event.
The event is free. Registration is required and is online. For questions or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact: Elaine O’Leary, 207.581.2399; elaine.oleary@maine.edu.
