Media report on appropriations funding earmarked for UMaine, UMS
The Bangor Daily News and WVII (Channel 7 in Bangor) reported on the more than $57 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations bills from the Senate Appropriations Committee earmarked for the University of Maine and University of Maine System. Included in the bill is $35 million in funding for the Factory of the Future, a new digital research facility to be built at UMaine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center. “This facility that we’re envisioning is unique globally,” Habib Dagher, executive director of the Composites Center, told the BDN. “There’s nothing like it right now.” WABI (Channel 5) and Mainebiz also reported on the funding, with much of the coverage dedicated to the Factory of the Future. The Sun Journal reported on the funding for UMS as well. Plant Services shared the Mainebiz story.
