LaCroix cited in Press Herald story about increase in hate crimes in Maine

Roland LaCroix, chief of the University of Maine police and president of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association, talked with the Portland Press Herald about the increase in hate crimes in Maine in 2020. LaCroix did not attribute the increase in crimes against Asian and Black people to the pandemic or social justice protests in the U.S. “I can’t get into the head of someone committing crimes,” LaCroix said. “Regardless of what you look like or what you believe, you should never be targeted, ever.” Centralmaine.com and the Sun Journal shared the Press Herald story.
