BDN cites UMaine research in story about Atlantic salmon numbers
The Bangor Daily News cited two University of Maine studies in a story about the numbers of Atlantic salmon in the Penobscot River this year, which are expected to be the lowest in the last four years. One study revealed that salmon experience difficulty finding the fishway at the Milford dam, which reduces spawning success. A second UMaine study indicated that thriving river herring runs may reduce predation on salmon with an alternative species that numbers in the millions. Yahoo! News and Newstral shared the BDN story.
