Archaeological Research Mentioned in Article
Research done in the 1970s by UMaine archaeologist David Sanger was mentioned in a Village Soup website story about the excavation of a shell midden in Acadia National Park. Sanger excavated the site in the late 1970s, according to the article, and the items found in the midden are currently being examined by a team of researchers including Dr. Arthur Spiess, who is the lead archaeologist for the Maine Historic Preservation Commission. Sanger is now emeritus professor of anthropology and quarternary studies.
