Marquis Who’s Who inducts Extension’s Garzon for accomplished career
Jaime Garzon, assistant extension professor and forage educator with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who, a chronicle of notable individuals in all career fields, and added to its Top Scientists group in the Top Professional series.
He has 12 years of professional experience, during which he has specialized in regenerative forage management, soil health, climate-smart practices in grasslands, forage science and pasture management, working to create practical applications for cultivating crops to feed livestock.
Born in Bogota, Colombia, Garzon’s passion for animal sciences was influenced by visits to his grandfather’s farm, where he rode horseback, herded cattle and harvested tree fruits. In 2011, he earned a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, followed by a master’s in animal production from the same institution in 2018 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Agronomy from the University of Florida in 2022.
Garzon is a member of National Association of County Agricultural Agents, the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) and the Golden Key International Honor Society. He also received the 2023 Gerald O. Mott Award from the CSSA and from UF, the 2022 Finish Line Award and the 2018 and 2019 Grinter Award.
