President’s Visit to Moor Lab (100 Crosby Hall)

The 4th of November 2014, President Ferguson visited our laboratory located at 100 Crossby Hall, The University of Maine. The visit started at 10 am with opening comments by the Engineering Dean Dana Humphrey and the Department Chair Erik Landis and a breif introduction of the MOOR ongoing and future activities by Dr. Krish Thiagarajan.

Refreshments where served and President Ferguson had the opportunity to walk around and see some demonstrations of different research projects going on in the laboratory as well as having a one on one discussion with the students involve in the projects. The projects topics were:

  1. Wave generation, measurement and dissipation at the wave tank.
  2. Wind energy.
  3. Wave energy.
  4. Tidal energy.
  5. Floating LNG facility.
  6. Autonomous geotechnical survey vehicle (Capstone project).
  7. Future projects.

The visit ended with reflections on the visit to the laboratory by President Ferguson and Provost Hecker.
