ABSTRACT:

Ryan is a senior research engineer in the Water Power Technologies group at Sandia National Labs.
Ryan leads Sandia’s research on extreme conditions modeling and design response analysis of
wave energy converters (WECs). This effort includes components focusing on numerical modeling,
design response statistics, structural analysis, and environmental characterization. Ryan also leads
Sandia’s advanced WEC controls project, where he focuses on numerical modeling and experimental
testing components of the project. Ryan has a Bachelors degree in ocean engineering and a PhD
in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech.
