Speaker: Gary Fearon, Director of Housing, Penobscot Indian Nation
The Penobscot Indian Nation located on Indian Island, has mandated a Tribal priority to make our community more energy resilient and to reduce our carbon footprint on our traditional homelands. The Tribe over the last several years have taken major steps toward achieving our goals. These projects include the implementation of an array of solar projects, grid resiliency, home energy efficiency upgrades and workforce development programs aimed at training and hiring Tribal members.
Gary Fearon currently sits as the Director of Housing for the Penobscot Indian Nation. Gary, along with two other Tribal Directors are tasked to carry-out energy and climate initiatives. Gary has been in his currently position for a little over the year and has begun to implement multiple community energy projects in conjunction with multiple community partners and organizations. Prior to this, Gary had served in a full-time capacity for the Maine Air National Guard.
