Silka to moderate SPSSI UN Virtual Event on Data Disaggregation to Eliminate Systemic Racism
Mitchell Center Senior Fellow Linda Silka will moderate a SPSSI UN panel on The Challenges of Data Disaggregation to Eliminate Systemic Racism and Related Discriminations in the Implementation of the SDGs and Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic on Thursday July 14, 2022.
SPSSI and APA, in partnership with missions to the United Nations (UN), nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and independent experts, will host the 90-minute panel presentation and discussion during the July 2022 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).
During this virtual event, Member States will share their progress on the elimination of systemic racism and related discriminations in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially during the recovery from the Coronavirus Pandemic. The event will also highlight contributions of psychology/social science to data disaggregation and the assessment of progress in the attainment of the SDGs including racial/ethnic equity for all sectors of society. In addition, event panelists will discuss practical human rights strategies for the development of effective policies and programs that promote equality within the SDGs for racial/ethnic and other demographic groups.
