Darren Ranco, professor of anthropology, chair of Native American Programs, and Mitchell Center Faculty Fellow, spoke with Maine Public about the new CODE RED exhibit at the Maine Historical Society in Portland. The exhibit, which Ranco co-curated, explores Indigenous knowledge and environmental stewardship, how humans have previously shaped the environment and the ramifications of climate change. “The teaching, of course, from Wabanaki people is this notion that we take care of it [the planet], it takes care of us,” Ranco said. New Hampshire Public Radio shared the Maine Public story.
