Sohaib Alahmed receives Chase Assistantship

Sohaib Alahmed, a doctoral student in the UMaine Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been awarded a Chase Distinguished Research Assistantship in support of his research and professional development, as reported by UMaine News.

Sohaib is researching water flow, pollution pathways, and transport in many important estuaries in Maine including Frenchman Bay, Jordan River and Taunton Bay to help inform decision-making in fisheries policy and management. He works on the project “Investigation of Harmful Algal Bloom effects on Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning through Decision Support Tools in Connected Watershed-Estuary Systems,” funded by the Maine Water Resources Research Institute, headquartered at the Mitchell Center.
