Pride of Maine Black Bear Marching Band to Showcase New Uniforms at Alfond Stadium
During halftime at the Homecoming football game versus the University of Albany, the School of Performing Arts and the Pride of Maine Black Bear Marching Band will proudly showcase their brand new uniforms.
The 120+ new uniforms were generously gifted to the band by an anonymous donor.
In addition to the showcase, old uniform coats and hats will be for sale in Room 100, Class of 1944 Hall, immediately after the game on Saturday and in the Collins Center for the Arts lobby before Homecoming Concert on Sunday, starting at 1 pm. All profits benefit the School of Performing Arts’ Music Division.
Christopher White, the band’s director, was behind this idea as a way to help the music students as a whole.
“It fosters a sense of pride when everyone is pleased with how they look,” White said. “We are replacing uniforms that are older than the people wearing them. We have a look that is less dated and more progressive.”
According to White, all of the students love wearing the uniforms and can’t wait to show them off at Homecoming!
