The Franco American Centre is a place for studying, gathering, working, and laughing. We have a research library and student study spaces; we run public programming, publish a magazine and on-line literary journal, and we sponsor an after-school French program.
Le FORUM is a French bilingual, socio-cultural periodical published by the Franco-American Centre.
We have dedicated volunteers who can help with genealogical work and a deep collection of resources dedicated to French Canadian genealogy. Our current research is focused on building digital tools to facilitate research on Franco Americans.
At 1:00 pm we will also host a panel presentation. The French in Maine have long played an extremely important role in the politics of the Pine Tree State. In this election year, we are hosting a panel presentation with three prominent voices from the Franco community that aims to highlight the relevance of Franco Americans in Maine politics and voting: Severin Beliveau will speak about the history of Franco Americans in Maine politics, James Myall will explore the history of disenfranchisement in Maine, and Rhea Côté Robbins will examine the Franco American suffragist movement.
Before and after the panel presentation, we will offer tours and refreshments and display our current projects until 4:00 pm.
