BONANZA JELLYBEAN QUILT, 2020

Kate Fogler
Fabric, batting, thread, pom poms

The BONANZA JELLYBEAN QUILT is an artist quilt to encourage collaboration between artist and recipient with focus on sharing an experience from a distance, and a simulation of closeness. This quilt is imperfect; there are messy seams, stray thread, stains, but the beauty is found in the care and thought that went into the quilt. This quilt was assembled, torn apart, and reassembled several times, features patches, slow stitch, and playful pom poms, and took about 70 hours to construct.

Kate stands in front of a pink topped, blue and purple striped wall. She wears black. Her brown hair is in a bun. She smiles closed mouth, with her head tilted.

About Kate

Kate Fogler is a Maine-based artist creating work to externalize the internal. Her mediums range from installation, collage, to textiles and more. Kate uses everyday materials such as food and recycled clothing to create pieces, and finds strength and meditation in repetition, and often finds that the meaning of work comes from the process.
