Volunteers are critical to the success of this event designed to showcase the culture of excellence to our graduates, students, friends and family, and community members.
About the Ceremony
The Recognition (Hooding) Ceremony is where candidates for Master’s and Certificate of Advanced Studies degrees will be hooded and Doctoral candidates are recognized.
The ceremony begins at 4:00 pm in the Alfond Arena on Friday, May 12, 2017 with doors to the arena opening at 3:00 pm.
The role of volunteers at the ceremony is to:
- Provide guests with directions
- Hand out programs
- Assist guests with seating
- Assist faculty and students with seating
A walk through of Alfond Arena will occur the week of May 8th to orient volunteers to the stadium and flow of the ceremony.
Will there be a practice run through?
Yes, there is a volunteer run through of the ceremony in Alfond Arena on Wednesday, May 10th at 10AM to go over the layout of the arena and specifics about the ceremony.
Where do I go on Friday, May 12th?
Please report to the Alfond Arena by 2:45 pm unless your assignment indicates otherwise. You may park in the parking lot near the Field House or next to Dunn Hall.
What do I wear?
Please try to wear a white top and black bottoms, if possible, and comfortable shoes!
Will there be food?
Yes, we will have a reception following the ceremony at Wells Conference Center which you are invited to attend.
