Secondary Education
The MAT program in Secondary Education is designed for individuals who hold an undergraduate degree and are interested in becoming secondary school teachers (grades 6-12). The degree leads to initial teacher certification in a designated content area and a master’s degree. Content areas include math, life science, physical science, English, social studies, and world languages.
The MAT degree requires a minimum of 36 credits and can be completed full-time in 15 months. is offered both on campus and through UMaine Online.
This program will prepare students to be eligible for licensure within the State of Maine. Applicants are encouraged to apply by March 1 if they plan to begin the program in the summer term.
