The Maine Business School offers the MaineMBA, a Master of Business Administration program, which consists of 30 credits and is designed to prepare leaders for the future. CHOOSE A CONCENTRATION

The MaineMBA in Accounting, which serves as a pathway to the CPA designation for many students, can help advance your career and earning potential. Our program is designed to equip graduates with a mastery of business principles and advanced accounting knowledge needed for a changing global landscape.

The MaineMBA concentration in Blue Economy pairs the MaineMBA Core 8 with coursework in rapid-growth areas of aquaculture, fisheries, biotechnology, and ocean renewable energy. The Blue Economy elective courses are offered in partnership with the University of Maine School of Marine Sciences, including support from the Darling Marine Center, Aquaculture Research Institute, and other allied units.

The MaineMBA concentration in Business Analytics is ideal for individuals interested in big data and programming. You will learn to use the power of statistics and data modeling to make insightful business decisions, including applications like Python, R, and Tableau. Students develop their data analysis and visualization skills and meet the growing demand for professionals in this field. Students can earn certifications from top digital platforms that will give them a real-world advantage in their careers.

The MaineMBA in Finance offers advanced financial training for careers in banking, insurance, and investment analysis. Students in this MaineMBA concentration focus on applying quantitative tools to real-world financial problems. Students will explore advanced concepts in capital budgeting, cash flow analysis, banking systems, and investment management.

The MaineMBA in Food Technology Industry Management combines a curriculum that teaches executive business skills with specialized education in food manufacturing technology, production, and supply chains necessary for advanced leadership roles in food, nutrition, and related industries. Students in this MaineMBA concentration prepare for leadership careers in food manufacturing, laboratory research, and emerging technologies settings and corporate environments. This concentration is offered in partnership with the College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences at the University of Maine.

The MaineMBA in Engineering Management allows students interested in management, administrative, and leadership roles in engineering settings to gain advanced business knowledge while further developing their understanding of engineering operations and practices.

This MaineMBA concentration is an interdisciplinary partnership between the University of Maine Business School and the prestigious University of Maine College of Engineering. The program pairs the business curriculum of the MaineMBA with engineering courses that teach students the skills and knowledge necessary for pursuing leadership roles within the engineering industry.

The MaineMBA in Global Policy combines teaching advanced business concepts with the applied policy research needed to assume a role in global public policy development and analysis. Students will explore international relations theory and global economics concepts while applying their skills to international policy issues in an increasingly fast-paced business world. This MaineMBA concentration is offered in partnership with the School of Policy and International Affairs at the University of Maine and is only available in person on the Orono campus.

Geospatial technologies provide the ability to map, visualize, and analyze geo-enabled data. Location information analysis guides business decisions, market intelligence, retail and brand preference, supply chains, manufacturing networks, and many other aspects of business intelligence. The MaineMBA concentration in Geospatial Technologies has been developed as a partnership between the University of Maine Graduate School of Business and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Maine and the Maine Geospatial Institute, utilizing courses from the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine.

The MaineMBA in Human Nutrition Industry Management teaches executive-level business skills combined with specialized education in human nutrition necessary for advanced leadership roles in health sciences and related industries. Students in this MaineMBA concentration prepare for leadership careers in preventative care, eldercare, clinical, industry, and corporate environments. This concentration in Human Nutrition is offered in partnership with the College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences at the University of Maine.

The MaineMBA in Healthcare Systems prepares leaders to apply advanced business concepts to make informed decisions in healthcare and related industries.

Students prepare for careers in hospital and medical system leadership roles, pharmaceutical sales, and developing or managing emerging technologies in the medical sector. Graduates from this MaineMBA concentration work in various jobs and settings in the healthcare industry. The University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service partners with the Graduate School of Business to deliver this concentration.

The MaineMBA concentration in Outdoor Industry Management is designed for professionals seeking leadership roles in commercial ventures utilizing the outdoors and natural environment, including roles in travel and hospitality, outdoor recreation, ski and snow industry, recreational waters, and many others. This program is offered jointly by the Graduate School of Business, the University of Southern Maine, and the University of Maine School of Law.

The MaineMBA in Public and Non-Profit Management develops professionals for leadership roles in government, nonprofit and community organizations, and other public service settings. The program serves working professionals and pre-career students from varied educational backgrounds who aspire to leadership roles and careers as managers or advocates in public service. This concentration brings together the University of Maine’s Graduate School of Business and the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service to deliver a unique program.

The MaineMBA in Sustainability acknowledges the value of managing financial, environmental, and social performance to achieve resiliency and provide long-term returns to investors while recognizing changes in consumer values. This program combines advanced business concepts with the knowledge of developing sustainable communities, transportation planning and policy, and land use regulation and control. Students select from various courses offered through the Graduate School of Business, the Muskie School of Public Service, and the University of Maine School of Law.

MAINEMBA GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

Up to six graduate assistantships are awarded competitively to outstanding full-time MaineMBA applicants each fall to work in business research and classroom settings. Assistantships include 18 credits of tuition coverage and a generous monthly stipend. Applicants wishing to be considered for an assistantship should complete the application no later than January 15th.

Deciding to pursue graduate education is an important decision. That’s why the Graduate School is committed to assisting prospective and current students with finding ways to fund their education. While the top three ways to receive funding support are through assistantships, fellowships, or scholarships, there are alternative ways to find support whether through loans or other third party sources.

Application deadline: Rolling, however international applicants seeking an F-1 or J-1 student visa to study in-person in the United States will only be admitted to our MBA program's fall semester cohort. International students who wish to complete the program online from their home country may apply and start in any semester. Special exceptions may be considered for students currently in the U.S. on a student visa.

Test Required: GMAT for MBA; waivers available for previous relevant work or educational experience, visit https://umaine.edu/business/mainemba for details. No test required for Certificate. English Language Proficiency scores are required for all international students applying to the MBA unless the student has completed a bachelor's or master's degree in the USA or Canada (excluding Quebec province). There are no exemptions or waivers.
