INQUA FIELD TRIP
From July 21-27, the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) held its once-in-four-years meeting in Bern, Switzerland. UMaine Geology and Climate Change faculty, students and alumni were well represented at the meeting. Following the meeting, there was a 4 day field trip to the Alps in the Valais region to see recent work dating the timing of glacial advances. The trip was partly led by Dr. Meredith Kelly, a faculty member at Dartmouth College, and a former UMaine graduate student. Present and former Earth Science/Climate Change faculty and students on the trip posed for a photo in front of Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps.
