Zhengxin Ma

Zhengxin Ma is a skilled researcher with extensive experience in genetic sequencing.  Prior to her work for CORE in support of the Microscopy Imaging and Analysis Core (MIAC), she gained experience in PCR, Sanger sequencing, and Next Generation sequencing during her Ph.D. program at the University of Florida.  As a postdoctoral researcher at MDI Biological Laboratory, Zhengxin expanded her knowledge by conducting RNA sequencing with C. elegans, investigating the effect of dietary restriction on transcriptional regulation during aging.

Utilizing whole genome sequencing to study virulence factors and antibiotic resistance in pathogens; impact of animal farm management practices on microbial communities in both livestock and the surrounding environment using 16s metagenomics

Duties and Skills:
– Provide technical advice and troubleshoot challenges for DNA and eDNA sequencing requests
– Evaluate ongoing projects for accuracy and reliability
– Provide training for CORE’s confocal microscope and image analysis software
– Perform maintenance on CORE’s microscopy equipment
– Conduct microscopy projects for principal investigators
