CET students build replica fire station in Old Town
Last spring, UMaine Construction Engineering Technology students started construction of a model fire house for an antique fire truck in Old Town. Modeling the original fire house from 1917, CET student Samantha Perro designed and budgeted the building with Student Construction Association (SCA) President Samuel Neil. Professor Amber Killip‘s Introduction to Estimating and Planning Class framed the walls as their final class project. Then SCA volunteers framed and sheathed the roof. Other community volunteers have continued construction through the summer. The building is scheduled to be completed and open for the public soon.
Old Town’s first-ever fire truck will return to a building that looks like its 1917 home
