The Coastal Satellite Oceanography team at University of Maine is happy to provide high resolution satellite imagery of the coast of Maine. Individual scenes are available in the form of downloadable Geotiff and NetCDF files. Processing techniques are published in Frontiers in Marine Science here.

The Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) aboard the USGS satellite Landsat 8 make it possible to map estuarine and riverine systems at an unprecedented 30 meter resolution. Sea surface temperature for three sections of the coast is available for download here and in the menu above. Turbidity and chlorophyll are now available for the Mid-Coast, Penobscot Bay, and Downeast sections of the coast in the menu above.
