Understanding our diverse students: Using data driven personas to interrogate neurodiversity and inclusion in course design
Postponed
In this learning community, we will use data driven personas representing students at UMaine/UMM to better understand how intersectional identities impact learning and what small changes faculty can make to make their course design more universally accessible. We will use a combination of self-reflection on your own course syllabus, policies, content and practices, and biasses, small group troubleshooting and large group discussions. Participants will:
- Collaboratively troubleshoot and envision different teaching strategies
- Design small changes with big impacts
- Modify course syllabi and/or course policies
- Map how interventions benefit multiple student identities
- Reflect on personal experiences, beliefs and biases
- Provide feedback or recommendations for the personas and their use.
