Register now for the Ottawa Field Trip Oct. 25-27

UMaine students, faculty, and the broader community are invited to register for our yearly field-trip to Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. This trip is an exciting opportunity for UMaine students to travel to a foreign country and experience Canadian geography, history, culture, politics, and social identity first-hand! This year’s trip will take place October 25-27, 2019.

This year’s trip will focus on the Canadian environment. Join us as we explore and think critically about the role of nature in the creation of Canada, and how Canadians have interacted with and modified their environments in both the past and the present.
Highlights of the trip will include a tour of the Parliament Buildings (West Block, the new location of the House of Commons while Parliament is undergoing a multiyear renovation), a visit to the Canadian Museum of Nature, and environmental history tours of the Central Experimental Farm and the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum.

We aim to make this trip affordable. The registration fee ($210) covers all transportation costs*, entry fees* to museums and historical sites, and hotel accommodations at Les Suites Ottawa. Students are responsible for their own meal costs. An early bird special price ($195) is available for those who register before September 6th.

Register now, visit the trip portal for more information, and the join the Facebook event to connect with other participants!

*Cost and fees associated with “optional” or unscheduled events and transportation are the participant’s responsibility.
