The UMaine Women’s Rugby Club is a member of the NEWCRC. The young women that comprise this team comes from a variety of backgrounds and lifestyles, but all share a strong love for the game of rugby, giving the team a unique sense of community and camaraderie.

Rugby is a unique sport that requires all 15 women to work together for 80 grueling minutes, it isn’t a sport for the faint-hearted.  This is the ultimate team sport and each and every rugby team has a special bond among teammates that can’t be duplicated by any sport.  This bond continues off the pitch with a unique culture.  The spirit and moral of the team is what fuels our ambition and drives our success. UMaine Women’s Rugby is a positive support system, an incredible social network, and an outlet that can free you from the narrowing constraints of society. More than anything, playing rugby is liberating.
