Emily Lancaster Pierce
Emily Lancaster (Pierce) is a third-year Ph.D. candidate studying environmental DNA (eDNA) to detect invasive invertebrates in nearshore ecosystems in the Gulf of Maine. Before coming to Maine, Emily grew up and studied on the west coast, receiving a bachelor of science at Pepperdine University and a master of science from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. Emily hopes to use eDNA tools to detect the severity of invasive species infestations, look at seasonal changes in abundance, and understand the limitations of eDNA research.
