Benjamin Hayward

Ben Hayward is a first-year PhD student, and studies the potential impacts of the Maine Research Array on ecosystems in the Gulf of Maine. For this work, he is currently running and analyzing regional oceanographic models to understand how offshore wind might change physical processes in the ocean, after which he will study biogeochemical and ecological processes. He plans to use this work to inform policy at local and state levels. Prior to joining the Brady lab, Ben worked in forest ecology, studying drought tolerance in mixed broadleaf forests, and in biophysics, studying the optics of Photosystem II using resonance spectrometry.
