Current Research Topics

Long Term Outcomes after Childhood Brain Injury

Years after a child experiences a brain injury, what are their educational and vocational experiences? How do deficits in cognitive-communication skills impact their participation? How can we better functionally assess the needs of children with brain injury?

Childhood Brain Injury in High Risk Populations

What are the rates of brain injury in children exposed to household violence or in the juvenile justice system? How can we better screen for, assess, and provide treatment and supports for brain injury and cognitive-communication deficits to these groups?

Cognitive Fatigue after Childhood Brain Injury

How do children with brain injury experience cognitive fatigue? How can SLPs better assess and provide supports and accommodations for cognitive fatigue? Is eye tracking and pupillometry and effective tool to measure cognitive fatigue in childhood brain injury?

Child Programs & Policies

How do programs and policies support youth in the community? How can we better translate research to support programs and policies in improving youth outcomes?
