Steel Bridge
The goal of the steel bridge is to design, model and fabricate a steel bridge and compete with it at the regional competition, and hopefully get an invitation to nationals. The regional competition this year will be held at Northeastern University and the national competition will be at Brigham Young University. At competition bridges will be judged on construction time, weight, stiffness, load capacity, as well as esthetics. Students who have an interest with any level of experience are encouraged to join and help. It is a great opportunity to work in a group environment on a real engineering project, which builds on the fundamentals learned in the classroom. UMaine has not had a steel bridge team for a number of years, but we will be looking to make a strong comeback this spring!
