UMaine’s Morse Interviewed for Seaweed Workshop Report

Dana Morse, a member of the Marine Extension Team and a Maine Sea Grant researcher based at the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center, was interviewed for a Channel 5 (WABI) news report on a workshop held at the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center in Belfast to discuss the value and commercial potential of native Maine seaweed, already used in a variety of consumer products. Morse said interest in harvesting seaweed for commercial use has been growing lately and scientists are working to help determine the profitability for harvesters. The workshop was also covered by Channel 7 (WVII).
