Grant for Education Research Noted in Release

A news release that appeared in the Sacramento Bee newspaper noted that UMaine is one of three organizations or institutions to be involved in a $3.5 million grant to student the effectiveness of an online tutoring system for mathematics homework. SRI International, a nonprofit research and development organization, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute will also be involved in research on the grant, which comes from the Institute of Education Sciences at the U.S. Department of Education. UMaine, a co-principal investigator, will receive $670,000 to help implement the project in Maine schools.
