WPES and ECS host Dr. Karen Prestegaard (University of Maryland) for a seminar on controls on Urban Fall Zone streams

Please join us Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 12:00-1:00 pm in BGSC 100 for the weekly School of Earth and Climate Sciences Seminar Series. Dr. Karen Prestegaard from the Department of Geology at the University of Maryland will be giving a talk on hydrological and geomorphological controls on water, sediment, and solute fluxes in Urban Fall Zone streams. All are welcome to also join us following the seminar in the second floor atrium of the Bryand Global Sciences Center in Orono for a chance to meet with Dr. Prestegaard. You can also watch the presentation remotely via the ECS Seminar Series Zoom link.

Announcement flyer for Karen Prestegaard lecture with the following biographical text:
"Karen has been leading research and education related to watershed geomorphology across North America for over four decades. Her work has included investigations of processes related to watershed sediment transport, streamflow generation, watershed and wetland biogeochemistry, hydrological processes in boreal watersheds, hydrologic responses to climate change, and the hydrology of coastal and riparian wetlands. She has authored numerous publications with colleagues and students on these topics, including seminal work on hydraulic resistance and flow regimes in rivers. Her influence has distributed across disciplines and communities involved with modern watershed management initiatives in the United States and beyond."
