Best Buddies

Best Buddies is an organization that gives individuals with IDD’s (Intellectual Developmental Disabilities) an opportunity to have one-to-one friendships as well as a college experience with the students of UMaine. We meet monthly with the whole group, one to one relationships are required to meet monthly outside of the club. Best Buddies is a very care free and lighthearted environment for students and buddies. Our buddies in the surrounding area look forward to events and time spent with students going to football, basketball, and hockey games whereas they would not have the chance to do so without this organization. Being simply a friend and not a paid worker to our buddies gives them a chance to open up their small circles of people they typically have.
