MPES Professional Development
Climate Reality Leadership Training
MPES full-time member, Alicia Oberholzer, had the privilege of attending Al Gore’s 2017 Climate Reality Leadership Training in Pittsburgh. Attendees from all over the world learned how to effectively communicate climate change topics, a skill that is necessary to galvanize environmental action.
Alicia Oberholzer met dozens of like-minded individuals at the Climate Reality Leadership Training. She is applying the knowledge that she gathered at the conference to communicate climate change related issues to Orono community members.
Zero Waste Conference
MPES full-time member, Alicia Oberholzer, and MPES minimal-time member, Audrey Garcia, traveled to Philadelphia to attend the Post Landfill Action Network’s Zero Waste Conference. They learned how several U.S. higher-education institutions have made the commitment to become zero-waste campuses. Audrey and Alicia are excited to apply this knowledge to reduce waste at UMaine.
Students attend the start of the Zero Waste Conference at Temple University. After being inspired by the stories of zero-waste campuses, minimal-time MPES member, Audrey Garcia, is taking the initiative to help the Orono community reduce its waste.
