Regularly review the general scope and impact of sustainability programs and initiatives at UMaine.
Effectively participate in national forums and databases that assess sustainability success and impact such as the Second Nature Carbon Commitment (formerly ACUPCC) and the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) affiliated with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
Generally assess how best to participate in and address state/national/international discussions on sustainability.
Engage in and sponsor creative discussions to discern new initiatives and strategies to promote sustainability with linkages to impactful and cost-effective results.
Determine effective communication strategies to further the awareness and impact of the sustainability efforts at the University of Maine ranging from website design, research and teaching publications, news features, and public presentations.
