Full-Time Enrollment:

UMaine students must be registered for 50-60 credits each semester.

Exchange students are required to pay an immigration healthcare surcharge (IHS) when they apply for their student visa. Students must complete the payment and return to the immigration application in less than 30 minutes.

Students attending UEA for more than six months are eligible for free National Health Service (NHS) care, but students with pre-existing medical conditions may wish to obtain private health insurance, as well as students attending for less than six months. The UEA has a Medical Centre on campus.

Students can work up to 20 hours per week during term time if they are studying a full-time degree-level program. Students studying a full-time program below degree level can work up to 10 hours per week during term time. Outside of term time, students can work full-time, which is usually around 40 hours per week.

You must have a Tier 4 Student visa to work in the UK.

UEA guarantees campus accommodation to all UMaine exchange students. Accommodation in all University residences is self-catering (i.e., no meal plan). Each residence contains several fully-furnished, centrally-heated, single-occupancy rooms grouped around a shared kitchen. Kitchens come equipped with a fridge, freezer and oven or microwave; and residents provide their own cooking utensils, crockery, and cutlery. Students also provide their own linens, or bedding packs can be purchased from the Accommodation Office. Watch the UEA Campus Life video.
