Fredrick “Birdie” Sawyer

Biography

Fredrick “Birdie” Sawyer teaches hip-hop at UMaine and is the faculty advisor for the Hip Hop Club. Birdie spent several years with the Young Americans teaching and touring throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. He has taught hip-hop at Morita’s School of Dance in Hermon and several workshops throughout New England. Birdie has also worked as a guest choreographer for the UConn Dance Team. He has choreographed several guest performances for Boston Celtics pregame shows. Birdie has a BA in Communications from the New England School of Communications at Husson University and lives in Bangor with his wife Sarah and their children.
