Danny Fisher-Lochhead

Biography

Danny Fisher-Lochhead is a saxophonist/composer from New York, NY who currently lives in Bar Harbor, ME. He grew up in a musical family, and started playing the cello before eventually switching to the saxophone. After he graduated from the University of Michigan, he moved back to New York and continued making music there. While living in New York he performed extensively — with Brass Magic, The Will Mason Sextet, Lora-Faye Whelan, Rose Hips and Ships, Harvey Eyeballs, Ancient Sky, Adam Schatz, and many others, and started performing and recording his own large-scale compositions with The Danny Fisher-Lochhead Large Ensemble. He has released five records as a leader or co-leader — Tools of the Abstract, Piano Songs, Wake The Baby Up, On Ceremony, and Piano Songs 2 on Fishkill Records, a record label he started with his friend and collaborator Ross Gallagher. Since moving to Maine in 2015 he has performed at the Deer Isle Jazz Festival, The Maine International Film Festival as a member of Le Soricier Perdus, The SPACE Gallery, The Bagaduce Music Hall, The Surry Arts Barn, The Grand Lake Stream Folk Festival, The Lompoc Cafe, The Blue Hill Wine Shop, Fogtown Brewing Company, The Seal Cove Auto Museum, The Barncastle, The Stonington Opera House, The Somesville Union Meetinghouse, The Barn Arts Collective, The Apohadian Theater, The Eastport Arts Center, The Mayo Street Arts Center, the 2017 Climate March in Bar Harbor, the dedication ceremony of the Ashley Bryan Centeron Islesford, ME and many others. He is an active member of Mark Tipton’s Le Sorciers Perdus, as well as the Soulbenders, and regularly putson performances of his own work locally and in New York. Recently he performed with tapdancer Orlando Hernandez at the Motion State Dance Festival in Providence, RI, and is scheduled to perform with Orlando and fellow Mainer, Ryan Blotnick, at the 2020 Deer Isle Jazz Festival.
