Mr. Thomas is the Director of Jazz and Wind ensembles at Colby College. Winner of the prestigious Concert Artist Guild International Competition and two time recipient of a Ragdale Foundation residency Mr. Thomas received his Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. Having started his conducting career as a conducting assistant to Sarah Caldwell at the Opera Company of Boston, he has previously conducted the Phillips Academy Andover Jazz Band, the Moab Chamber Orchestra, the Colby College Symphony Orchestra and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.

An active performer Mr. Thomas has concertized with several ensembles, including the Boston Pops, the New Jersey Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, La Symphonica Orquestra de Monterrey, the Baltimore Symphony, the Sylvan Winds, the Apple Hill Chamber Players, and the New England Ragtime Ensemble.

Festival activities include the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music , the Bravo! Vail Valley Chamber Festival, the Long Lake Sebago Chamber Festival, the Moab Music Festival and the Wellesley Composers Conference.
