Classroom Instructional Resources

The Maine STEM Partnership offers instructional resources for teachers to use in their classrooms for  PreK-5 science, middle school Earth science, middle school Physical science, and 9th Grade Earth science. Each kit is individually packed for each teacher with enough supplies for an entire year of science teaching. Each kit comes with associated textbooks, online resources, science materials, pre- and post- assessments, and additional supporting materials developed by Maine STEM Partnership community members.

All resources offered through the RiSE Center have been extensively reviewed and vetted by task forces consisting of PK-12 educators, administrators, RiSE Center faculty and RiSE staff. You can see the resources we currently support listed below.

Elementary Science (K-5): Full Option Science System (FOSS) Next Generation

Middle School Earth Science: Science Education for Public Understanding Program (SEPUP)

Middle School Physical Science: Project-Based Inquiry Science (PBIS)

Middle School Life Science (coming 2019-20!): SEPUP Issues and Life Science 3rd ed. (SEPUP)

High School Earth Science: Adapted from EarthComm (Includes materials from Chapters 1,2,5,6,7,8 that have been mapped to the Next Generation Science Standards)

 

Resource Rentals ($15/student): for grades 6-9 SEPUP, PBIS, and/or EarthComm (includes books, online resources, and materials)

K-9 Resources Professional Development
Join us for an overview of inquiry pedagogy in science and dive into the specifics of teaching with Maine STEM Partnership resources in your classroom. We’ll go through the curriculum, teacher planning guides and resources to ensure you are ready to hit the ground running in your classroom. You’ll also learn the ins and outs of the Maine STEM Partnership community, such as how to be an active member of this improvement community, how to collect and share classroom data, data-guided improvements and how to pick up and return resources. This group will meet monthly through November to support you. Participating teachers will receive a stipend of $50 per 2-hour session and a certificate of contact hours will be sent after the last meeting.

Cost per teacher: $450

Additional Meeting Dates for K-9 Resources Professional Development

9/19/2017, 10/17/2017, and 11/14/2017, 4:30-7pm. Opportunities to connect in online will be available. Participating teachers will receive a stipend of $50 per 2-hour session and a certificate of contact hours will be sent after the last meeting. Cost per teacher: $250.00 in addition to the fee paid for the August PD.
