Sustainability

Printing Services was one of the first print shops in Maine to adopt an entirely chemical-free plate making process to ensure what we print today won’t compromise our environment tomorrow. Our presses use soy-based inks on presses and recycled ink cartridges in our print on demand printers. In addition, we reuse our press plates, reducing waste.

We offer pH neutral, archivally-appropriate, acid-free papers as well as a variety of papers containing 20-100 percent recycled or post-consumer fiber. We are also pleased to offer customers chlorine-free paper options and many Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Forest Stewardship Council certified products including FSC 100 percent, FSC Recycled, and FSC Mixed Sources products.

Printing Services participates in the University of Maine recycling program.
