Strategic Re-Envisioning Update — Town Hall — May 21

Dear University of Maine and University of Maine at Machias colleagues,

Tomorrow we will gather for a town hall to provide updates and contour to develop a framework for the Strategic Re-envisioning (SRE) initiative, which aims to determine areas for lasting strategic savings or reliable revenue streams for the future of UMaine. Today I’m reaching out to reaffirm the importance of your participation at this event to ensure your ideas are considered as we come together to make decisions that will sustain the health of our university.

Our intent is to continuously engage students, faculty and staff in this process – so tomorrow’s town hall will be an important step in that effort as part of a larger conversation to ensure we work together toward lasting solutions.

Your voice plays an integral part in the success of this initiative. The University of Maine and the University of Maine at Machias are collectively ours – not just our workplace, but a resource and a home for so many across the state. We have the opportunity now to make decisions that will determine what this institution looks like in the future and how we serve the learners of tomorrow.

I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the intent of this initiative by reviewing the information available online. As I noted in my last communication, we are identifying a small group of  provost’s fellows as well as a project director from our faculty and staff to work on this project intensively over the summer. To express your interest in learning more, you can fill out this form.

We intend to provide regular updates on our progress as we move through the stages of our Strategic Re-envisioning. I look forward to seeing you at the town hall tomorrow, in-person or on Zoom, as we work together to discuss the possibilities and potential for the sustainable UMaine of tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Joan Ferrini-Mundy
President
