Message from President Ferrini-Mundy: Sept. 10
It has been a wonderful experience to get to know the University of Maine and the University of Maine at Machias over the past few weeks. I am especially impressed by the warmth and commitment of all.
To know an institution requires knowledge of the people who make the institution work, as well as those whom the institution serves. And while I have already met many members of the UMaine and UMM communities, there is much more to learn.
One strategy I will use to get to know UMaine and UMM is to hold open office hours as a means of understanding what is important to the faculty, staff and students. In the process, this will help the UMaine and UMM community get to know me, as well.
Starting in September, I will be setting aside two hours per month for open office hours in the President’s Office in Alumni Hall in Orono, and I hope sometimes in Machias. The goal is to provide opportunities for faculty, staff and students at UMaine and UMM to meet with me to discuss university-related topics of interest.
Please note that these meetings are not intended to take the place of discussions you would typically hold with your direct supervisor or pre-empt traditional lines of communication.
If you are interested in meeting during open office hours, whether individually or in a group, please complete the form on the President’s website.
Feel free to bring a sample of something that exemplifies your work and experience at UMaine and UMM. I look forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,
Joan Ferrini-Mundy
President, University of Maine and University of Maine at Machias
