Provost Search Update — May 28, 2025
Dear members of the University of Maine and University of Maine Machias communities,
I would like to extend my thanks to the search committee and to members of the campus communities for the significant commitment of time and the insightful engagement during campus interviews for a new Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost (EVPAA). The search process generated three strong finalists, but I have made the decision to extend the search into the fall. Our remarkable institution deserves the best possible leader of Academic Affairs.
Our partners at Academic Search will actively recruit candidates for the position through the summer, and the search committee will reconvene in September to review applications. The campus interview schedule will be provided as the search process progresses.
John Volin remains EVPAA through June 30, with Gabe Paquette serving as Senior Associate Provost and Acting Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs through August 31, 2025. Further information regarding the leadership transition plan for Academic Affairs will be communicated in the coming weeks.
Sincerely,
Joan Ferrini-Mundy
President
