Clue Number 8
Iron heated until red and hot,
Able to be flattened or tied in a knot,
Sweat gathering on the forehead without a sound,
As the metal takes shape with every pound.
Before metalwork became industrialized,
This profession in each community was surely prized.
With hammer, anvil, and other self-made tools,
This tradesman labors then waits ’til all cools
To reveal his fine work, fit for the gentry—
An expression of craftsmanship—until the twentieth century.
