Welcoming Kids and Communities
As the state’s land, sea and space grant institution, we at the University of Maine along with our regional campus the University of Maine at Machias are committed to advancing learning and discovery through excellence and innovation while addressing the complex challenges and opportunities of the 21st century through research-based knowledge. Outreach is a major part of our mission and we strive to support teachers, parents, and students across the state. In a given year, the faculty and staff at UMaine and UMM connect with tens of thousands of youth and educators. Through campus tours, classroom visits, professional development workshops, summer camps, and curriculum development initiatives, students from all over the state of Maine and beyond are introduced to the unique programs we have to offer!
