Types of Heat Loss

Conduction- loosing heat from physical contact due to another object and or body

  • ex) sitting on the cold ground 

Convection- the transfer of heat from a singular place, to another, from the use of movement

  • ex) the wind blowing on your bare face

Radiation- a heat transfer due to thermal exchange

  • ex) heat radiating off your body (think about a wood stove!)

Evaporation- heat loss due to the transfer of water to gas 

  • ex) sweating or respiration in cold weather
