Announcement for Release of the New NSF PAPPG 20-1

A new Proposal & Award Policies & Procedure Guide (PAPPG) has been issued and will be effective for all proposals submitted or due on or after June 1, 2020. Significant changes that will affect all proposals submitted include:

  • Required use of an NSF-approved format biographical sketch and current and pending support. PIs can use SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitaie to develop these documents or use the NSF fillable pdf document. More information on NSF-Approved formats for the biographical Sketch can be found at https://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/biosketch.jsp and additional information on the approved format of Current and Pending Support can be found at https://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/cps.jsp
  • NSF has also produced a FAQ document on requirements for Current and Pending Support which is available at https://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/papp/pappg20_1/faqs_cps20_1.pdf
  • Updated clarification of synergistic activities within the Biographical Sketch. Each synergistic activity should represent one distinct activity and must not include multiple examples.
  • Removal of the section labeled “Intellectual Merit” within the project description.
