Daniel Weaver, UMaine Nursing student video – transcript
Daniel Weaver: I’m a non-traditional student. In previous work that I was in, I just didn’t feel like I was utilizing a lot of my strengths. Nursing blends a lot of skills such as, you know, teamwork, leadership, communication, problem solving and therapeutic communication, and so I think being able to bring all of that together is something that really inspires me. I really liked the clinical courses in particular; they’ve been very useful in seeing firsthand what it’s like to be a nurse and really apply those skills that you learn in class and lab in a hospital setting. Definitely allowed me to use my problem solving skills, my communication skills, helped me to develop that therapeutic communication with patients to really be able to bring all of that together and see myself in a position where I can deliver patient care.
